Sales tax figures released Wednesday show statewide taxable sales jumped 6.2 percent in August compared with August 2005. Clark County led the way with an increase of 6.5 percent for the same period. But Washoe County slipped 0.1 percent.

Sales tax rises slowing in Clark County
While eight counties in Nevada showed year-over-year taxable sales decreases, Clark County continued to show marginal increases for September. During that month, businesses in Clark County sold goods valued at $3 billion, up $185 million, or 6.5 percent, from the same month last year.

The Nevada State Demographer's Office released its projections Monday for the period through 2026. Clark County can expect another 1.5 million people, according to the latest numbers.
Overall, Nevada is projected to grow by more than 1.8 million or 74 percent during the same period.
