Nevada taxable sales rise by 6.2 percent in August


Much like the Energizer bunny, Nevada consumers keep spending. And spending. And spending.

Sales tax figures released Wednesday show statewide taxable sales jumped 6.2 percent in August compared with August 2005. Clark County led the way with an increase of 6.5 percent for the same period. But Washoe County slipped 0.1 percent.

Sales tax rises slowing in Clark County


While eight counties in Nevada showed year-over-year taxable sales decreases, Clark County continued to show marginal increases for September. During that month, businesses in Clark County sold goods valued at $3 billion, up $185 million, or 6.5 percent, from the same month last year.

Some 3.8 million passengers traveled through McCarran International Airport in September, a 4 percent increase when compared with September 2005, airport officials said Tuesday.
