THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM PDT /1 PM MST/ THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM PDT /7 PM MST/ THIS EVENING FOR ELEVATIONS BELOW 4000 FEET IN SOUTHERN NEVADA...EASTERN CALIFORNIA AND NORTHWEST ARIZONA. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT. A STRONG AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE SOUTHERN GREAT BASIN AND MOJAVE DESERT WILL BRING UNSEASONABLY HOT TEMPERATURES TO THE MOJAVE DESERT TODAY. HIGH TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE AROUND 107 IN LAS VEGAS...110 IN BARSTOW...113 IN MESQUITE AND OVERTON...115 IN LAUGHLIN...NEEDLES AND LAKE HAVASU CITY...AND 120 IN DEATH VALLEY. HIGHER HUMIDITY VALUES WILL ALSO MAKE IT FEEL MORE UNCOMFORTABLE AS MONSOON MOISTURE REMAINS IN PLACE. AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO REACH DANGEROUS LEVELS THAT WILL STRESS THE BODY IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
