| how long after a bankruptcy can I buy a home? Posted: 23 Oct 2009 10:59 PM PDT I'm filing for bankruptcy. All the debt that we have accumulated, including the mortgage, is under my name. We are giving up our home and moving into a tiny apartment to save some money for another home. 1) How long do I have to wait to qualify for a home loan? 2) My husband has decent credit,can he buy now by himself? 3) How long can we stay in our current home? Would it be taken away right after I file for bankruptcy? My lawyer says 3-6 months before we have to move out. he also says that after 2 yrs I migh qualify for a loan. But my sister lost her house to foreclosure about five yrs ago and she has not been able to qualify for a loan because of it. I'm afraid that I'll be stuck in the apt with my three kids for many years.    |
