| Is it a good idea for a first time buyer to ask the seller to cover all closing costs now? Posted: 21 Feb 2009 05:23 AM CST I ask this because since this is a Buyers Market, I wanted to know if I should be this aggressive or is that expecting too much? Prices have come waaaaay down since I last started looking in May of 2008 -- and I'm glad I made the right decision to wait. But now I am ready to buy, but am curious if things have really changed all that much since May of 2008. Last year was very bad with the REO homes because they would market a house with a low price and then have multiple offers and not get back to anyone for months! It was very frustrating for me. So, anyway, is it realistic to have the seller cover all the closing costs now rather than a 3% split? And does a short sale make a difference as to how aggressive one should be when making an offer?     |
