When is a short sale officially "under contract" as it pertains to the tax credit that expires on April 30th? Posted: 07 Apr 2010 01:39 AM PDT I am involved as a buyer in a short sale process in Las Vegas, NV. The seller has agreed to my offer and has signed the documents. The title company cashed my $100 check to open escrow...in hopes that it would be something that the bank would look at and would help the process. I haven't heard anything from the bank yet, and I'm concerned about being under "contract" before the April 30th deadline for the $6,500 tax credit. Am I under contract according to the law, or does the bank have to respond and accept my offer before that is official?
